Width of intermediate valve (1) 50% to 60% of chiton’s width and considerably greater than width of girdle to side of it (2).
Slender girdle extension from each side passes between valves (3) but, when animal adhering to substrate, extensions do not meet and are separated by parts of valves measuring about 20% of animal’s width (4).
