06 Acanthochitona crinita

1: prominent posterior apex.
2 to 1 to 2: triangular jugal area clearly defined by smooth surface with faint fine longitudinal ribs.
1 to 2 to 3: pleurolateral areas coarsely granulated by widely-spaced, flat-topped, tear-shaped, dorsal granules, except near anterior margin (2 to 4) where closer packed and rounder.
4: single slit separating pair of lateral insertion plates on each side.
5: large apophyses at anterior.
Small dark spots on granules (6) and in grooves of jugal area (7) are apical caps of canals filled with aesthetes (sensory tissue) that perforate the dorsal tegmentum layer.
Insertion plates and apophyses are parts of white ventral articulamentum layer protruding beyond the tegmentum.
