33 Differentiation L. obtusata/ L. fabalis

Two rare colour forms, each less than 1% of both species in large, pan British collection (Smith, 1976, in Reid, 1996), are, on left, alternata (two pale bands), and, on right, zonata (single pale band around periphery of bodywhorl). Penes not checked as collected dead; L. obtusata seems the most likely, but not entered in any recording scheme as uncertain.
12.7 mm high, Looe, Cornwall, April 2008; and 14.2 mm high, Brixham, Devon, England, July 2002. Leg. S.Taylor.
