Littorina fabalis.
Sample of Littorina fabalis (penes checked) from population lacking pure white early spires. The low spires have been eroded to dingy white with traces of colour in the same way as on many L. obtusata 35Dof 35 Differentiation L. obtusata/L. fabalis . The presence of a distinct pure white early spire is support for an identification of some L. fabalis, but its absence, or dingy white replica as above, does not support an identification of L. obtusata.
