10 Armina loveni

10 Armina loveni

A. loveni lives sublittorally from 10m to 75m in situations lacking wave disturbance. Mud is usually described as the substrate, but this image shows that it can be found on gravel if Sea pens are available. The cephalic shield is folded down flat as there is no need for its protection from sediment ingress when on a firm substrate. Sublittoral, Loch Eishort, Scotland. August 2016. © G. Brown.
