Late adult, GS5f, on Laminaria frond. Very unusually for a frond dweller, instead of forming a high conoid, the adult growth is almost horizontal, like the flat brim of a hat. The growth somewhat resembles that of a stipe dweller so it might be one that has been displaced from a stipe, but the low profile gives it a better chance than a high conoid of surviving strong waves on the frond. This specimen was not from sheltered conditions where high conoids can survive.
It is also exceptional for Britain in having well developed bright blue lines continuing on the adult growth all around the shell like those found in Norway.
