Holdfast dwellers usually have a broad oval outline, sometimes approaching a circle as in this case.
Blue rays persist on the juvenile growth at the summit, but they have been eroded from this one (1). They sometimes continue onto adult growth, but frequently, as on this, they are replaced by red-brown rays.
