1 Shell is horn coloured, made principally of thick, slightly hispid periostracum; not raised into spiral ribs. Flimsy, thin, white, interior calcareous layer readily flakes off when dry, leaving just the periostracum.
3 Large, elongate oval aperture; about three times as large as visible whorls in apertural view.
4 Columellar lip has no umbilicus or groove.
5 Spire does not protrude beyond body whorl; usually recessed into a depression.
