Many Tritia reticulata may assemble like vultures on carrion and push their proboscises, 150% length of shell at full extension, deep into it. They can hold their long siphons away from the carrion to inhale uncontaminated water.

Tritia reticulata is not on the list of Norwegian gastropods by Høisæter (2009), but this and other images by Erling Svensen suggest it is present on some sandy substrates. Examination of DNA would test if this assumption is correct.
