05 Lamellaria latens

This specimen has small black spots and larger circular gaps in the mantle colour which show the ochreous colour of the viscera underlying the internal, translucent shell. This pattern resembles the respiratory openings of Diplosoma and Trididemnum compound sea squirts.
Small patches of opaque, pure white on the head are diagnostic of this species.
No snout projects between the tentacles when the feeding proboscis is withdrawn.
Length 8 mm. West Anglesey, Wales. March 2014.
