19 Goniodoris castanea

19 Goniodoris castanea

Juvenile, length 5.1 mm. Translucent white rhinophore with opaque white and brown marks. Eight lamellae on the posterior leaving the anterior face smooth. Adults have up to seventeen lamellae (Thompson & Brown, 1984). The smooth digitiform apex is offset to the anterior of the rhinophore.
The upper surface of the foot is an uninterrupted continuation of the dorsal surface of the body not covered by the mantle, but it is more translucent, especially on weakly pigmented, young specimens, such as this.
