02 Lacuna vincta

Juveniles less than 3 mm high have small spires of about 30% shell height, which can be confused with L. parva .
All adults are dead by July; usual height of surviving juveniles is up to 3 mm. On the more translucent specimens the aperture of the empty shell shows dorsally the black background, and the opaque pale columella, round which the shell coils.
