Squashed appearance with thick ribs forming chevrons at the sutures between plates. The operculum of this V. stroemia opens as a single lid hinged along the straight left side (1) of the skewed ‘D’ aperture. Others may hinge on the right. Rostral wall plate (2). Carinal wall plate (3); the carinal end of this species is narrower than the rostral end. Tergum acting as a wall plate (4). Scutum acting as a wall plate (5). Original lateral plates lost during evolution.
