08 Lepidochitona cinerea

08 Lepidochitona cinerea

Valves closely shagreened by depressed, rounded, slightly rhombic, granules arranged in lines (probably Fibonacci arrangement, see momath.org/home/fibonacci-numbers-of-sunflower-seed-spirals/ ) .
Girdle granules (on perinotum) form pattern of alternating dark and light, lozenge-like, transverse bands of approximately equal size.
Usually, dark bands have narrow waist, and light bands have bulging waist, but occasionally colours are vice versa, as on this specimen.
Dark central spot on light bands and white spot on dark bands.
Pale longitudinal line running across bands, close to waists, is brownish and wider than usual on this specimen.
