When straightened, the radula is as long as, or longer than, the shell.
Left:
Ventral view of head. Decomposition has increased translucency to show:
1: cone of black eye pigment tapering into optic nerve.
2: leading edge of chitinous, horseshoe-shaped jaws strengthened with brownish mineralization.

Dissected radula and jaw.
3: radula sac concealing early growth stages of radula.
4: exposed anterior section of radula. At low magnification, each row of teeth shows a large lateral tooth on either side. More teeth are visible at higher magnification.
5: outer face of pair of jaws joined at a suture into a horseshoe shape.
6: inner face of jaws; distal third strengthened by brown mineralization.
