1: Dark green Cladophora sp. at surface level of deep pool at MHW on exposed coast (see ). Several juvenile L. senestra found by searching a sample under magnification.
2: Light green Ulva. No L. senestra found in a searched sample.
3: Red Corallina sp.. No L. senestra, but many Runcina coronata found in a searched sample.
The pool was visited in search for L, capitata which had previously been recorded there by an experienced worker. The right hand image shows juvenile L. senestra which were found there with head crests and yet undeveloped rhinophores which I think caused his misidentification and my initial assumption that they were L. capitata. Rearing them in captivity showed them all to be L. senestra. Body markings on several specimens should be examined and over-reliance on rhinophores and crests avoided when identifying Limapontia species.
