02 Rissoa membranacea.

Specimen has solid, well-calcified shell walls with interior thickening that constricts the aperture. Fairly tall profile of 6 whorls with an apical angle about 45º. Exterior has well developed wave-like costae (ribs) and a cream (usually white) labial varix (1) set back from the thin palatal (outer) lip (2) which is eroded from part of the rim (3 to 3) on this beached specimen. The aperture rim sometimes has some purple or lilac colouration, such as on this one.
Slight tooth-like protuberance (4) on the columella. Shell height 5.7 mm. Beached. Silverstrand, Co. Galway, Ireland. September 2002. Leg. J. Fisher, in coll. S. Taylor.
