Propodium is shaped like a ploughshare. Its anterior (1) penetrates sand, and its posterior edge (2) is raised to protect the entrance to the respiratory mantle cavity from ingress by sand. Mesopodium (3) forms the majority of the sole. Metapodium (4) carries and conceals the operculum and covers the posterior of the shell against ingress of sand. North Wales. July 2017. © L. Londis.
