06 Leucophytia bidentata

Sometimes the reddish brown jaw (1) is visible in the mouth. The head has a very short snout that is concealed beneath a pair of broad, rounded, narrowly separated, oral lappets (2) that reach over the front of the head to the substratum (Morton, 1955). The translucent white foot varies in shape but is generally broad with fairly flat anterior (3) and rounded posterior (4). When moving on smooth surfaces, the foot is cushioned on a layer of watery mucus (5) and the shell has a thicker layer between it and the substrate (6).
