06 Myosotella myosotis form denticulata.

Earliest juveniles have punctate spiral lines which may persist for a time as the shell grows and be visible through the periostracum on later whorls (1). Very fine, closely spaced, costal lines are often visible on adults, especially on the subsutural ramp of spire whorls (2).
The mantle cavity is sealed off from the exterior by a thick, white or brownish-white, mantle-collar (3) which fits closely round the body (4) as it extends or retracts.
Shell height 3.5 mm. Salting on tidal River Dee, Flintshire, Wales. December 2018.
