1 –1 – 1: jugal tract with about 30 undulating transverse rows of pores (entrances to aesthete canals).
2: slit in insertion plate (articulamentum layer only; overlying tegmentum with dense canal pores is not slit).
2 – 3: slit ray (row of canal pores) from slit to posterior edge.
4: apophysis on anterior edge.
