09 Tritia incrassata

The inner and outer lips of the aperture develop teeth with age.
The ear-shaped operculum has a narrow ‘ear lobe’ fitting into the siphonal canal (1). Its columellar (2) and parietal edge (3) is relatively smoothly curved. The palatal edge (4) is more ragged with a large indent at the base (5). The operculum has a blackish blotch (6) on the area of attachment to the opercular disc. There is a medial black line (7) on the opercular disc along the edge of the attachment area, which is visible through the operculum on live specimens.
