Four views of a dead, bleached M. myosotis shell with peeling periostracum. This dead specimen can be easily distinguished from L. bidentata by its four protrusions (1,2,3,4) in the aperture. But differentiation of small, bleached M. myosotis specimens with only two protrusions can be difficult, especially from photographs.
