1: each gill is tongue-shaped leaflet attached by stalk to distal wall of pallial-groove and has densely ciliated groove on stalk and thickened rim that catches and removes particles of detritus that would clog gill (Fretter & Graham, 1994).
2: efferent pallial vessel carrying oxygenated blood into nuchal cavity, and thence to heart behind cavity.
