Like P. depressa, the pallial tentacles of P. ulyssiponensis have opaque pigment; orange on very large specimens (D) but white , off-white or cream (A,B,C ) on others that could be confused with the white of P. depressa. Usually the distal-half (2) of each tentacle fades to translucent on P. ulyssiponensis, but variation of extension on both species makes accurate comparison difficult. As on P. depressa, the opaque basal parts (1) of the tentacles on P. ulyssiponensis are often distinct from the translucent mantle-skirt that they arise from. It important to use pallial tentacles in combination with foot-colour for differentiating the species.
