The body whorl is usually some shade of yellow with or without one to five brown spiral bands which occasionally merge, sometimes to give an entirely brown shell. Some bands are hidden on earlier whorls by the overlapping of subsequent whorls.
This specimen is from a local population of mainly five-banded snails.

2: two bands merging into one.

Apart from the smooth sole and ventral surface of the head, the entire exposed body is covered in closely-set, ellipsoid tubercles.
